6 Tips To Help You Save More Money

0

In his book titled Start Over, Finish Rich, author David Bach listed 25 tips for every American to cut down on his / her monthly costs and save more money. Out of those 25, I’ve picked those best 6 tips to help you save more money:

1 – Drop the premium cable TV package, go for the basic one

Consciously choose to downgrade to a basic cable TV package (many start at around $19.99 per month). Stop paying for the DVR features which not everyone needs or uses. By doing this, you could easily lower your monthly bill by at least $50, or $600 a year. Even better, give Hulu a try or search Youtube.

2 – Reduce your monthly mobile phone plan

According to a study by the Utility Consumers’ Action Network, the average cell phone customer uses only one-third of the total minutes he or she purchases each month.

3 – Cancel your landline phone, or downgrade its package

If your mobile phone is reliable enough, and you do not have those bad reception problems with your service provider, then either go for a cheaper package, or cancel it completely.

4 – Cancel your monthly subscriptions

Be it a magazine or newspaper, going online and googling can get you the same type of information you follow on daily basis. Not everything can be found online, granted, but it is worthy of making news, most probably others have spoken about in some detail, allowing you to know enough about it.

5 – Carpool is kool

Oil prices are nothing but crazy and painful. No one knows how far would they go in either direction the very next day. Going to work riding in your car has its toll on your budget. Arranging for a carpool with a colleague or two, once or twice a week, can save you a decent amount of money, on gas, maintenance, tolls, etc.

6 – Bring your lunch to work

You are working, you can afford it, so you order food to your office, or you eat out. Billions of dollars are spent on fast food, which explains the heavy advertising those companies resort to. Cooking at home and bringing your lunch to work is nothing to be ashamed of. Those saved dollars can help you in a rainy day.

So, what do you think ?
